My dad had an Agent Orange related disease and passed before they admitted it. Hopefully we do better going forward. Depending on what your job was, you were almost certainly exposed to things the average person wouldn't be. And yes, 3 times suggests exposure. I thought SCC was fairly rare. That one raises big red flags for me
I am a veteran and am getting ready to start undergoing cancer treatments for the third time. My immune system will be highly compromised while treatments are underway. I have been following H5N1 and am terrified that a pandemic is coming. I will be ensuring that I do have a living will in place as a "just in case" and hope that it won't have to be used.
Thank you for your service, Dave. I am so very sorry you are having to go through treatment again. It my dearest hope that you receive the treatment you need without obstacles.
I will never understand the selfishness of people who refuse to wear a mask, take basic safety precautions, and demand actionable items from the government to address these emerging threats. We were already headed there thanks in part to Reagan and his me me me crap, but I'm afraid the selfish epidemic has exploded under Trump.
Thanks Marie. That means a lot. I was diagnosed with Scuamous Cell Carcinoma at the base of my tongue, with masteses in my lymph nodes in August of 2023 and underwent 35 rounds of radiation and 7 rounds of chemotherapy, finishing in November of that year. That was probably the hardest thing that I've ever done. It's back, but in my lung this time. I should start immunotherapy later this month. I also was diagnosed with prostrate cancer back in 2016 and underwent radiation treatments for that. I'm currently trying figure out if any of this could have been caused from anything I may have been exposed to while in the military.
I was going through treatments in late 2023 and wore a mask anytime I went anywhere. I got some looks from some people for sure. The misinformation out there is crazy. It makes me think that they want to kill off as many of the "poors" that they can.
I hate to say it, but the likelihood that it is related to your service is high. Based on the stats I've seen, rates are higher among active and former military for all types of cancer. Reminds me of Agent Orange related diseases and Gulf War Syndrome
I hear you. I had an uncle that passed away from lung cancer that was related to agent orange that he was exposed to in Vietnam. I was given his flag at his funeral because I was the only veteran among his nieces and nephews that is a veteran. The family felt like I should have it. I also have my grandfather's flag; he was a WWII veteran.
With have 3 different diagnosis, I think that at least part of mine may be related to carcinogens I may have been exposed to. I have talked to one group, so far, that my sister had seen. They told me that they weren't looking at any of my diagnosis at that time.
